Addiction can make a person we’ve known for years act like someone we don’t know. When we see an addiction control our loved ones, we do everything we can to help. But sometimes, unconditional love simply isn’t enough. Most family and friends aren’t equipped to help someone with an addiction. They may have good intentions, but many people enable or stigmatize substance abuse without even knowing it.
Addiction can ruins relationships, but families are vital resources for people who are addicted. Having supportive relationships is one of the four pillars of recovery. We are here to address the symptoms and behaviors of addiction and create a plan to conquer it.
Signs and symptoms of recent use include:
- Feeling of exhilaration and excess confidence
- Decreased/ Increased alertness
- Increased energy and restlessness
- Behavior changes or aggression
- Rapid or rambling speech
- Dilated pupils
- Irritability or changes in mood
